There are many different ice management techniques, but pretreating is one of the most effective. This technique involves spraying liquid de-icing agents onto parking lots and roads before a storm so that they can be better prepared for winter weather conditions. We use salt instead of sand because it sticks to surfaces more effectively. We also use commercial spreaders to deploy salt during and after storms. Solid sodium chloride effectively prevents hard-packed snow while also protecting against ice formation on walks or in parking lots where it’s applied appropriately.
